Nordkoreas solar-photovoltaikanlagen
Die Installation von Solarmodulen in nordkoreanischen Haushalten hat in letzter Zeit einen deutlichen Anstieg erlebt, wobei im Land schätzungsweise 2,88 Millionen Solarmodule installiert wurden. In the last installment of our series on North Korea’s energy sector, we looked at state development of solar power and panels and discussed how solar was beginning to contribute power to the electricity grid rather than just the building on which the panels were installed. Based on testimony by North Koreans and pictures taken in major cities ranging from Kaesong to Wonsan and smaller towns like Yomchon in North Pyongan Province, the Daily NK estimates that almost 50% of households in North Korea have solar panels. Access to solar panels has created capacity where the state falls short, but the overall energy security challenges facing the nation are daunting. This report, “North Korea’s Energy Sector,” is a compilation of articles published on 38 North in 2023 that surveyed North Korea’s energy production. Solar power began appearing on North Korean industrial establishments around 2015 and has become more common ever since.
