In this paper, we compare the strength and weakness of four popular simulation tools for power systems: Anylogic, Repast, GridLAB-D and RAPSim. We propose a simplified model of a Photovoltaic (PV) panel for smart micro-grid which is implemented in all tools. The International Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE) defines microgrids as ‘electricity distribution systems containing loads and distributed energy resources, (such as distributed generators, storage devices, or controllable loads) that can be operated in a controlled, coordinated way. Our technology stack includes Python, MySQL, Flask, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, and Docker.
