Solarstromerzeugung in ontario
Following the coal closures, we decommissioned our Nanticoke Generating Station and in 2019, we built a new solar generating facility in partnership with Six Nations of Grand River Development Corporation and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Our 13 Canadian solar sites, located across Ontario, are home to about 600,000 solar panels and produce close to 200Gwh annually. Select a facility to learn more about Northland’s solar production: Ontario operates a hybrid electricity market, where most generation is secured through long-term contracts with the Electricity System Operator (IESO), and a smaller share competes directly in the wholesale market. Wholesale electricity prices are set through the market, while the IESO also manages. The province has a diverse array of renewable energy systems in place that account for more than one-third of its electricity supply, powering the lives of millions of Canadians. The Ontario Government has asked Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to investigate the potential for all types of new generation at its Lambton Generating Station.
